Technical Solutions Unlimited was founded by Jamie Dalmer in 1993, and is based at a farmhouse in Mid Wales, between Oswestry & Welshpool. This peaceful location, somewhat “off the
beaten track", is ideally suited to software development.
A Brief History of Technical Solutions Unlimited
Jamie was born on the Wirral in 1966, and started his life-long fascination with computers in the late 1970s on
a TRS-80 Model I. His first commercial application was a Homeopathic/holistic medical diagnostic package in
1980. He then went on to develop games for the BBC micro, C64 and Spectrum for a number of years before becoming involved with software protection and anti-piracy systems.
Jamie has known Norman Studdart of State Of The Art since 1984, when Norman was using a Commodore Vic
20 and later a BBC micro, before progressing to his first IBM PC.
In 1987, Jamie joined Mortgage Systems Limited in Hampshire, working as an in-house developer for their mortgage processing
and administration software on what was then Europe's largest single-site Novell Network.
It was after leaving MSL that he moved to Mid Wales and set up Technical Solutions Unlimited to write a number of DOS-based
utility programs for Hawk Reporter (which was written by Norman). This lead onto, amongst other things, writing a number of bespoke applications for a regional electricity company.
Most recently TSU have moved into the development of real-time communications software for energy monitoring & targeting and gas analysis, again in partnership with State Of The Art. The current product range includes :
FireWorks Gas analysis and boiler tuning. Marketed by Kane International.
Eco Warrior The first affordable real-time energy monitor, requires only the use of an otherwise outdated PC and a breakout box.
Eco Logger A 32-bit energy logging system, capable of monitoring over two-thousand meters. Can log and display data down to a one minute period length.
Eco Comms Automatically sends Eco Warrior data from remote sites on a daily, weekly, monthly or customised basis. As it dials out
(instead of the more common method of dialling in) it doesn't require a dedicated phone line.
Eco Tools Utilises data from Eco Warrior. Also imports a variety of other data formats including UKDCS and DataLink (Standard &
Extended). Creates reports, charts and complete bills. Charts include "Average, Maximum, Minimum", Totals (by period,
week, month and year), Cusum, Circuit Comparison, Statistics by Day and Spectrum Analysis.
Reporter Professional The latest incarnation of Hawk Reporter, now rewritten for Windows. Interfaces with a variety of loggers, downloads data,
and has real-time displays, reports, charts and tariff analysis.
